Mark A. Stone, Ph.D., is Chief Technology Officer at City Labs, where he leads the company’s scientific and technological strategy across advanced research and development initiatives. As Principal Investigator on multiple federally funded SBIR programs, he directs the development of cutting-edge energy and propulsion technologies, guiding projects from concept through execution.
Dr. Stone oversees multidisciplinary teams of scientists and engineers, driving innovation across laboratory operations, experimental design, and data-driven decision-making. He plays a central role in shaping research strategy, securing competitive government funding, and delivering high-impact solutions that meet rigorous technical and regulatory standards.
Prior to joining CityLabs, Dr. Stone worked in advanced energy systems at Modern Electron, where he designed and built thermionic energy converter prototypes and contributed to next-generation power technologies. His background also includes expertise in nanofabrication, semiconductor processing, and experimental systems engineering.
Dr. Stone holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Florida International University and has authored numerous publications in the fields of space power systems, thermionic devices, and advanced propulsion technologies. He is also a named inventor on multiple pending patents related to radioisotope-powered systems and ion propulsion.
