Consultant
Dr. Mason Peck is a consultant for City Labs, offering his extensive expertise in aerospace and systems engineering. He is currently a professor at Cornell University, where he focuses on next-generation space-system architectures, mission design, and guidance, navigation, and control (GNC).
From 2011 to 2013, Dr. Peck served as NASA’s Chief Technologist, advising the agency on technology investment strategies and partnerships. He played a key role in initiatives like the Asteroid Grand Challenge and foundational investments in engineering science.
At Cornell, Dr. Peck founded the Space Systems Design Studio, mentoring students and collaborating on NASA-funded flight programs. His work with small spacecraft has led to multiple launches since 2012, including KickSat—the world’s first crowdfunded spacecraft launched in April 2014. Dr. Peck earned his Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and his Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in Aerospace Engineering from Stanford University.
